Running Assessment

Podiatry Running Assessment - Duration 85 mins

We accept most major medical insurance cover plans

Medical insurance
Our gait laboratory has been specifically designed for running analysis combining our 20m runway with pressure plates and high speed cameras to record and measure every millisecond of your running. We also have our top of the range treadmill and watt bike to fatigue runners to see exactly when gait changes take place and how that impacts on their running mechanics. This information is vitally important in determining the injury mechanism for the pathology.

The appointment lasts for an hour once you have filled out a medical questionnaire. The muscular and structural integrity of joints and muscles will be examined from the lower back to the toe and will involve dynamic and functional movements to determine balance and efficiency of the lower limb. As the main part of the assessment you will be recorded via our high speed cameras running along our 20 metre walkway on our pressure plates recording at 500 frames per second. This enables us to look at the function of the foot and lower limb in greater detail than the naked eye can. This can be achieved when running in barefoot, in shoe to determine efficiency and now even in studded footwear to determine appropriateness. Our very own British Athletes including Paula Radcliffe, Mo Farah and the Brownlee brothers use this very same equipment.

Podiatry is the study of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity.  Podiatry focuses on the function of the foot rather than the aesthetics.
