Orthotic Design and Intervention
Our orthotics are designed using the application of the laws of Newtonian Physics to the lower limb and foot. This is referred to as the ‘Tissue Stress Theory’. This allows injured structures to be off loaded to ensure the injured structure remains unexposed to continuous load that will delay healing. Understanding foot function is vital, therefore we use our cutting edge footscan technology to accurately track plantar pressures and forces to map the foot's function.

Off the shelf and semi-bespoke orthotics are designed to reduce peak pressure through the absorption of shock with minimal changes to foot function. In comparison to bespoke foot orthotics, designed to reduce peak pressures via redistribution of plantar pressures through geometrical changes of the foot structures in combination with applying varying densities of materials to improve shock absorption. |

Foot Function Centre is lucky enough to have our on site orthotic laboratory for manufacture of orthotics via our association with Enertor orthotics cementing our clinic as a gold standard facility. With Enertor Medical orthotics well established within the MOD and NHS, our devices have been clinically and environmentally tested to the highest standards. We offer three levels of orthotic intervention:-
